Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kits:
Hands-free mobile phone law:
California drivers now must use a hands-free kit while talking on their mobile phones. In a new law that took effect July 1st, drivers are required to use either their phone’s speakerphone, a hands-free kit or a Bluetooth headset while talking. First time violators will be fined a minimum of $20, while subsequent violations will cost $50 each, but county court administrative fees and penalties could triple the fine.
Other states that require Bluetooth handsfree phone usage are Connecticut, Washington DC, New Jersey, New York and the Virgin Islands. Three states, including New Jersey, forbid text messaging, while seventeen states have laws for novice drivers. Other states, however, leave the choice up to local authority, which really makes things hard for some drivers.
Manufacturers and car owners recognize that the technology of Bluetooth is the perfect solution for them. Bluetooth devices are considered to be the only option. But the issue is not simply talking on the phone; it is also setting up and dialing a call, and even answering it. Some of the Bluetooth car kits designed to clip onto a sun visor only flash when a call is coming in and they mute your phone’s ringer, while with others it is hard to hear and very noisy.
There are many Bluetooth handsfree kits that make your driving experience safer such as:
AFTERMARKET HANDS-FREE CAR KIT:
Some of these kits come with color LCD and voice recognition which allows you to dial the number automatically.
BLUETOOTH HEADSET:
Headsets could be another solution. Car headsets allow you to effectively answer a phone call with one button. They are also great because they are small, stylish and come with rechargeable battery. Keep in mind that Bluetooth technology is advancing. Making sure that the device you choose is compatible with the optimal amount of Bluetooth versions and devices, allowing for better value for the future.
BLUETOOTH READY RECEIVERS:
Most aftermarket receivers (head units) are bluetooth ready which allow you to receive and make a call without using your cell-phone. Bluetooth stereos connect to mobile phones and other devices supporting Bluetooth technology. With a Bluetooth car stereo, you can stream music from your phone or attach a Bluetooth adapter to your iPod and stream music from it throughout your car’s stereo system. Some GPS navigation systems (Bluetooth GPS receivers) offer bluetooth capabilities as well.
